Online invitation: Data Training and Trade Analysis Workshop

30 Jan 2007 - 02:00
Maseru, Lesotho

The key to having sound economic policies is adequate information and analysis to facilitate informed decision-making. The Ministry of Trade and Industry, Co-operative and Marketing (MTICM) of Lesotho has limited data and analysis capacity necessary to assess trade flows and formulate trade negotiation positions. Without effective information, or a clear understanding of its implications, appropriate decisions can not be made.

On the other hand, Lesotho’s Bureau of Statistics is charged with collecting and collating economic data for analysis. This process has not been going as smoothly as one would hope, as the last official trade statistics released was for 2003. TIPS, in collaboration with the MTICM, will host a one-day data training and trade analysis workshop in Maseru on 30 January 2007. Among the topical issues will be data problems in Lesotho, the RISDP and Lesotho’s trade arrangements.
